I'm having an issue deleting files from a Windows Server share.
The files in question are actual email items, moved from within MS Outlook to the file system. They have incredibly long file names (actions which users were encouraged not to do). When I try delete them i get this error: "Destination Path Too Long: The file name(s) would be too long for the destination folder. You can shorten the file name and try again, or try a location that has a shorter path. " This occurs whether i hit delete or shift - delete. I have tried a number of the suggestions on technet. All to no avail. Does anyone have experience of deleting email items on a file system with very long names? Thanks. |

Use LongPathTool, Long Path Tool can simplify and probably end your problems in unlocking, managing and renaming files that appear to have a long filename.
